Since 1961, Hattie Larlham has provided care to children and adults with developmental disabilities. For more than 50 years, Hattie Larlham have developed programs and services to support people with developmental disabilities. The organization started with one dedicated woman. Kent State University is a member of the national Campus Kitchens Project (CKP) and as such, is a leader in community service for students and is the future of hunger relief. CKP at Kent State University is empowering the next generation of leaders to implement innovative models for combating hunger, developing food systems, and helping communities help themselves.  Students repurpose leftover foods from area restaurants, dining halls, grocers and others into wholesome meals. website  Contact for more info.

​Children were being further traumatized by the intervention process that was designed to protect them. Concerned citizens saw the need for a more child-friendly approach and better coordination in response to child sexual abuse. In 1999 Robinson Memorial Hospital donated space which enabled the Center to expand its services to child victims and their families. The Center is accredited by the National Children’s Alliance. website

A large percentage of children are unable to focus at school because basic needs aren’t being met. The Curtis family wants all children to be able to benefit from the education they are receiving. They decided to start a backpack program called Ben's Birdie Bags at Holden Elementary School in Kent, Ohio. Birdie Bags will go home with the students over long weekends and consist of three meals and two snacks.
