"The new Esplanade leads from the KSU Hotel and Conference Center right to Rockwell Hall, home of the Kent State University Museum, the Fashion School and Fashion’s new TechStyleLab. The museum, accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, holds a world renown collection of fashion with examples from the 18th century to today shown thematically in eight galleries in changing exhibitions. Rockwell Hall, the university’s original library, was extensively remodeled to meet the high standards required for the museum, and is one of the best exhibition spaces for fashion in the country. Seventh Avenue entrepreneurs Jerry Silverman and Shannon Rodgers  founded the museum with a gift of 4000 dresses and 1000 decorative objects in 1982. The museum opened to  the public in 1985. Today the museum’s collections number almost 40,000 objects.Jean L. Druesedow, Director, Kent State University Museum
