My
work explores and describes the process of moving from one space to
another, the shifting and fleeting of ideas, and the movement in and out
of relationships. With this movement, comes a vacant end to one space
and a beginning vacancy to another. Within this process, there is a
rigorous sorting of objects and memories down to what gets rendered
obsolete.
There is a closer inspection towards objects of forgotten
earnings. Old ideas of structure/utility/form no longer hold as sound
ideas. My paintings and drawings explore this isolated transiency with
the hope of rebuilding and associating new use to these spaces.
My current body of work is drawn primarily from my visual experiences
in Cleveland. Although there is a formal attraction at the core of my
ideas, my aim is to deviate from the intended function of locations and
objects and replace this with a new interpretation of utility and form. I
am interested in this story of history; with its oppositions of
function and use. I hope to create new dynamic imagery from these
opposing yet similar worlds.
